We are volunteers and our time is given for free. Although we are trained by the NHS we are not funded by them.
The East of England Ambulance service trains us, and supplies a high vis jacket for us to respond in as well as an ID card, they also keep us topped up with supplies, and issue us our primary kit.
Any additional kits we need have to be funded by the local scheme and an AED alone costs in the region of £1000.
As a group we now have 4 kits (so that we can cover more hours and have multiple people on call at the same time), and these we have paid for by fundraising.
We have also paid for uniforms, (Polo shirt's , Jacket's and Trousers') as this makes us look more professional, and keeps us protected.
We also pay for our mobile phones calls and data.
As a group we also purchase training aids (resuscitation manikins for teaching CPR, training defibrillators etc).
We also have on-going costs, such as the costs for the mobile phones we use, and also the new NMA devices the Ambulance service have issued us for some of our kits (these are smart phones linked directly to the Ambulance Control Centre), these costs run into hundreds of pounds each year.
